Brief Overview of Position
The Accounts Payable Accountant will primarily focus on managing ongoing accounting processes, including vendor contract (purchase order) and invoice maintenance, employee expense reimbursements and credit card management. In addition, the Accounts Payable Accountant will manage internal and external communications with stakeholders regarding all payables activity within the organization. The Accounts Payable… Accountant will be responsible for accounts payable ledger maintenance and analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple priorities to meet key deadlines each month.
The Accounts Payable Accountant will report to the Controller and will work collaboratively with the Staff Accountants. The candidate must have the ability to develop collaborative partnerships with all stakeholders within and outside of NASWA.
Candidates must also be comfortable working on and with virtual teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Manage vendor contracts and accounts payable invoices and related workflows
• Maintain prepaid and accrued expense records
• Manage employee expense reimbursement schedules for all staff
• Review and process or import credit card activity for meeting expenses, IT purchases, staff travel and related expenses
• Reconcile credit card statements to Sage Intacct monthly
• Process and validate shared cost allocations on monthly basis
• Assess project budgets in real time to prevent overspend in purchasing cycle
• Collaborate with stakeholders to coordinate payment of bills and to communicate the status of payments
• Initiate and maintain correspondence through e-mails, phone, and meetings with personnel regarding all payables activity
• Generate and manage vendor 1099 reporting on annual basis
• Provide technical assistance or arrange assistance for project/program managers in areas including Sage Intacct vendor invoices, expense reports, and credit card activity
• Provide financial information regarding invoicing, payment, and reimbursement schedules, when requested, by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
• Assist in annual audit
• Perform any other duties assigned that support the mission and strategic initiatives of the organization.
Competencies
• Demonstrated ability to work within a cloud-based ERP ecosystem (Sage Intacct, online banking, and credit card portals)
• General understanding of standard accounting processes, including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations
• Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel and Outlook, in particular).
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while working toward achieving required outcomes.
• Proven successful ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Effective communication, presentation, facilitation, and listening skills.
• Demonstrable organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi- tasking skills.
• Effective time and task management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and client information
Education and Experience Required
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
• Sage Intacct and/or Ramp experience is a plus, but not required

Travel: 5% travel required within the U.S. required for NASWA meetings and conferences

Pay: $55,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
