Blazer Jobs is currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time school-based role in Chicago, IL. Position Overview:
This full-time contract position is based in a school setting where you will be responsible for providing essential nursing care to students. You will work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure students’ health needs are met and that they are able to learn in a safe and healthy environment. The role includes competitive pay and potential for contract renewal based on performance.
Job Duties Include:
Administering medications and treatments to students as prescribed by their healthcare providers
Managing chronic health conditions for students, such as asthma, diabetes, and seizures
Conducting health screenings, including vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings
Providing first aid and emergency care when necessary
Developing and implementing Individual Health Plans (IHPs) for students with medical needs
Working closely with the special education team to support students with disabilities
Collaborating with parents, teachers, and school staff to ensure students’ health needs are being addressed
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date health records for all students
Ensuring compliance with state and local health regulations
Assisting with student health needs during school events, field trips, or extracurricular activities
Providing health education to students and staff
Promoting a healthy school environment by managing health protocols and safety standards
Supporting students during medical emergencies or crises and providing immediate care as needed
Requirements:
Active RN license in good standing, as required by the state of Illinois
Experience working in a school-based setting or with special education students is highly preferred
Ability to manage and address student health needs effectively in a school environment
Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding school health services
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work well with students, parents, school staff, and external healthcare providers
Must pass all required background checks and screenings
