It has evolved into a vibrant statewide youth leadership, advocacy, and training organization with county-based chapters throughout California, satellite offices, and a budget close to $2.1 million. POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Finance performs a variety of complex administrative functions related to accounting processes, including planning, developing, and organizing all accounting operations (financial reporting, record keeping, disbursement processing, purchasing, payroll, and related functions); overseeing the maintenance of the general ledger; coordinating annual audits and other year-end activities; assuring adherence to accounting standards and to generally accepted accounting principles; assisting in the oversight of debt; and developing, designing and implementing policies, procedures and internal controls. This position is also responsible for collaborating and communicating with employees, vendors, and members/supporters to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.
WORK LOCATION AND CONDITIONS: This is a hybrid, California-based position that will involve remote work from home, in the field, and at various meeting and conference locations throughout California, which will be scheduled between the employee and the Chief Operating Officer. Regular work hours are from Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Some weekend and evening work will be required. Approximate travel -10-24%.
CLASSIFICATION: The Director of Finance is a full-time, exempt employee of CYC, is employed at will, and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. As an employee of CYC, the Director of Finance is subject to the policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree and/or
• At least eight years of progressive experience working in non-profit finance
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, MS Office Suite, Gmail, Google Apps and Calendar, database programs, and other online information management
• Experience and working with teams that have diverse skill levels
• Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail and follow-through
• Creative approach to the work with a lens for considering multiple perspectives and needs when implementing systems
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS We continuously look for new ways to maintain a culture where our teammates’ talents can shine. The salary for this full-time, exempt position starts at $90,000 and includes generous, comprehensive health benefits.
