Part-Time Payroll Accountant at Swooped | Hunt Remotely

About The Role

A rapidly growing government consulting firm is seeking a dedicated remote part-time Payroll Accountant to manage semi-monthly payroll processing for two separate pay groups. The position is anticipated to require around 80 hours per month with a flexible schedule, provided that payroll deadlines are met.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

– Process semi-monthly payroll for two pay groups (i.e., 4 groups/month)

– Manage payroll for hourly, salaried exempt, and salaried non-exempt employees across multiple jurisdictions

– Ensure timely submission and approval of timesheets

– Collaborate with People Operations to process employee changes

– Conduct a thorough review of submitted timesheets for accuracy

– Maintain ownership of the payroll calendar

– Update leave accruals semi-monthly after payroll completion

– Facilitate off-cycle payroll requests as necessary, for items such as terminations and bonus payments

– Serve as the primary payroll contact… within the organization and with the third-party payroll provider

– Manage payroll reporting, compliance, and documentation

– Assist with external audits and ad hoc internal requests

– Track compliance filings (i.e., Quarterly 941s) and coordinate timely submissions

– Respond promptly to federal and state payroll tax notices

– Maintain organized electronic records in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations

– Process year-end W2s

– Handle sensitive PII with the utmost professionalism and discretion

– Provide effective payroll guidance to employees and conduct training as necessary

– Collaborate with team members on group tasks, attend weekly team meetings, and contribute to the Finance and Accounting team.

Requirements

– Bachelor’s degree

– 3+ years of payroll-related experience

– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

– Experience with payroll compliance, including compliance filings and withholdings

– Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products

– Eligibility to work for any US employer without requiring sponsorship
