What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
– Follow up on all types of hospital claims, particularly BCBS, through secondary and subsequent payers
– Review and resolve the reminder queue daily to ensure timely account management
– File secondary, tertiary, and other paper claims as required
– Maintain established policies, procedures, quality assurance programs, and safety standards
– Provide customer service for patients, internal customers, and insurance companies as needed
What is Required (Qualifications):
– High School diploma or equivalent required
– Minimum of three years of experience as a hospital collector
– Extensive knowledge of payer rules and regulations, including some experience with government payers and Workers’ Comp
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Meditech experience is a plus
– Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
– Strong understanding of medical terminology and diagnosis and procedure coding
– Good math skills to handle financial calculations and account reconciliations
– Ability to work safely with equipment, supplies, and materials
– Compliance with attendance requirements and Human Resource policies
– Experience in customer service within a healthcare setting
