Position Overview
STS Aviation Group is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Accountant to join our remote team. This role is crucial in performing and coordinating accounting duties, including preparing financial reports, managing the general ledger, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with audit preparations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), exceptional financial analysis skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
• General Ledger Management: Obtain and manage a thorough understanding of the trial balance and general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Journal Entries & Reconciliations: Prepare journal entries and perform general ledger account reconciliations, maintaining accurate financial records.
• Financial Statement Analysis: Support the organization by providing insightful financial statement analysis and demonstrating an understanding of complex business transactions.
• Audit Preparation: Assist with annual audit preparations, ensuring compliance with company policies and GAAP.
• Process Improvement: Collaborate with subject matter experts and project teams to assist with system improvements and drive efficiencies within the accounting department.
• Ad Hoc Analysis: Perform ad hoc financial analyses as needed to support business initiatives and decision-making.
• Team Collaboration: Work effectively in a team environment to deliver on company objectives and initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA designation or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience: 5-7 years of general accounting experience required; public accounting experience and experience in the staffing industry or shared service environments are a plus.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; proficiency with multi-entity subledger accounting systems.
• Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Time Management: Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage workload effectively.
• Problem-Solving: Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a high degree of self-motivation.
