Senior Claims Specialist, Medical Malpractice (open to remote)

What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
– Confirm coverage of claims by reviewing policies and supporting documents
– Analyze coverage and communicate positions regarding claims
– Prepare coverage position letters and assist in investigations of suspicious losses
– Negotiate and settle claims, often in litigation, within established authority
– Serve as a technical resource to underwriting and assist in training new hires

What is Required (Qualifications):
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; JD preferred
– Minimum of 5 years of claims handling experience or equivalent education
– Successful completion of 3 years as a Claims Examiner
– Must have or be eligible for a claims adjuster license
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
– Participation in industry training opportunities (e.g., CLM Claim College, Munich Re Training)
– Experience in negotiation, mediations, and monitoring trials
– Knowledge of tort and contract law
– Ability to influence claims stakeholders and direct claims strategy
– Strong litigation management skills
