Job Summary
As a Mortgage Loan Processor, you’ll oversee the mortgage loan process, ensuring all documentation is ordered, processed, and reviewed accurately for final approval and closing. You’ll provide exceptional service to our members, promoting responsible borrowing and savings habits while highlighting the benefits of our credit union’s services.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the gathering of necessary loan documentation such as appraisals, titles, and insurance for mortgage closings.
Review appraisal, title, and credit application documents to ensure compliance with loan underwriting guidelines prior to closing.
Ensure all pre-closing, closing, and post-closing underwriting requirements are met, including verification of clear title insurance.
Maintain excellent communication with agencies, vendors, members, and colleagues to obtain required documentation for loans.
Prepare accurate closing packages for various loan types including Conventional, FHA, VA, and home equity lines.
Generate precise HUD 1 settlement statements, ensuring all fees are properly collected.
Provide timely loan commitments and denials within designated timeframes.
Handle government HMDA filing, tracking, and reporting requirements.
Package loan files for sale to secondary markets according to their specific guidelines.
Develop expertise in Reverse Mortgages to assist in submitting and tracking loan closing documentation for third parties.
Maintain confidentiality of member information and ensure organized workspaces to achieve timely loan closing goals.
Acquire and maintain proficiency in department software and data processing systems.
Additional Functions
Actively support our credit union’s “sales and service” culture by educating members on the benefits of our products and services.
Stay informed about competitors’ products and services to enhance the quality of our offerings.
Participate in required in-house training sessions to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Assist in various areas as directed by management to support overall credit union operations.
Job Specifications
Strong interpersonal skills essential for providing exceptional member service in-person and over the phone.
Thorough understanding of mortgage lending regulations related to FHA, VA, and Conventional loans, backed by at least 2 years of loan processing experience.
High accuracy in mathematical calculations involving decimals, percentages, and fractions.
Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines, making informed decisions based on standard practices.
