About The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll play a crucial role in managing general accounting activities in accordance with FERC standards and under the guidance of the Accounting Supervisor. Your responsibilities will include:

Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and various subsidiary records and ledgers.

Supporting work orders, inventory, and fixed asset functions.

Assisting with financial audit preparations, annual budgeting, external reporting, rate calculations, cash management, and payroll processing review.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and reconcile monthly bank statements, billing reports, and related documentation.

Maintain and analyze subsidiary records, ledgers, and financial statements.

Prepare financial schedules and reports for budgeting and external audits.

Support cash flow management by monitoring and reconciling banking and investment accounts.

Assist with inventory and fixed asset management, ensuring accurate work order closing.

Implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and data integrity.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide accurate financial data and support.

Demonstrate cultural competency and support a positive work environment.

What We’re Looking For

High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Six years of accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, budgeting principles, and variance analysis.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.

Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.

Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Additional Information

No supervisory responsibilities, but provides system and process training to lower-level staff.

May assist with accounts payable and software/system updates.

Ability to work outside normal business hours during emergency situations or special projects.

Physical Requirements

Normal office environment with occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs) and carrying (up to 25 lbs).
