Accounting Manager – Remote | WFH

Position Overview…

We’re looking for an Accounting Manager to lead a team of property and senior property accountants. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial information for our diverse portfolio of assets across the country. This remote position is based out of Chicago, offering you the chance to contribute to a dynamic and growing team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor the Property Accounting team to maintain financial integrity.

Oversee day-to-day operations and support long-term goals for the accounting team.

Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including reviewing financial statements for accuracy and consistency.

Review fixed assets for proper depreciation and amortization.

Develop and conduct training on real estate accounting processes, variance analysis, budgeting, operating expenses, reconciliations, and accounting software.

Oversee the CAM reconciliation process with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Prepare and coordinate documentation for the financial year-end audit.

Ensure accurate recording of property transactions and loan refinancings.

Collaborate with the property management team and assigned accountants to smoothly transition properties in and out of the portfolio.

Monitor accounting policies and procedures to maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting principles.

Stay updated on company policies and ensure adherence by the accounting team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Over 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.

At least 2-3 years of direct management experience.

Experience in the Commercial Real Estate industry is highly preferred.

Familiarity with Yardi Voyager or similar accounting systems is a plus.

Understanding of real estate legal documents such as leases and property management agreements.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong grasp of accounting methods (cash, accrual, GAAP) and financial principles.

Proactive approach, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.

CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.

An annual base salary range of $98,640 – $147,960, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
