Position Summary
As a Mortgage Loan Officer, you will play a key role in achieving our sales and service goals. You’ll build and maintain strong partnerships, bring in home loan business, and provide exceptional member service. Your efforts will help our members realize their homeownership dreams.
Essential Functions
• Build Relationships: Actively seek out and foster relationships with third-party sources and business partners. Drive new home loan business, increase participation in our products, and manage loans through to closure.
• Network and Promote: Engage with third-party sources, business partners, and the community to promote our products and services. Generate leads and fund home loans by connecting with potential and existing members.
• Business Development: Represent us at industry events, host seminars, and network to build your book of business and enhance our brand’s visibility.
• Educate and Close: Inform members and non-members about our advantages and value propositions. Negotiate and close loans from both Credit Union-sourced and self-sourced leads.
• Loan Application Assistance: Guide applicants through the loan application process, conduct calculations, gather information, obtain credit reports, and match the right loan products to their needs.
• Liaison and Expert: Serve as a liaison and subject matter expert between real estate agents, loan applicants, and the Credit Union to ensure a smooth and successful loan closing. Support the loan processor and closer by obtaining necessary documents.
• Credit Evaluation: Assess credit reports and structure loans according to Credit Union guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the operations team to bring loans to funding, communicating effectively with the Loan Processor, Underwriter, and Closer/Funder. Aim to exceed member expectations and collect all required conditions for funding.
• Member Communication: Keep members informed of their loan status throughout the process, documenting all interactions electronically.
Qualifications
• High school education or equivalent.
• One to two years of relevant experience in home finance originations.
• Registered with the NMLS (Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry) as a Mortgage Loan Originator.
• Knowledge of federal and state mortgage lending laws and regulations.
• Familiarity with Fannie Mae and/or Freddie Mac guidelines for residential mortgages is preferred.
• Experience with loan origination and automated underwriting systems is preferred.
• Strong presentation and selling skills for interacting with real estate agents, businesses, and referral sources, as well as educating consumers in home finance seminars and community events.
Compensation And Benefits
• Compensation is commission-driven, with an hourly pay range of $21.00 – $22.00.
