Head of Finance & Ops
Operant is looking for a high-performing, full-time Head of Finance and Operations to join our team! This role will report directly to the CEO and will directly manage all aspects of finance/accounting and Ops, driving the company’s financial strategy, planning and make sure we are operationally outstanding. The person in this role will become a core part of the executive… team and will be working closely with other founders to empower the company’s growth.

Responsibilities:
• Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
• Drive the financial planning process, including the creation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Build financial forecasts based on company burn, customer data and upcoming sales activities.
• Use current financial position to make projections about the future and support/drive financial decision-making across the company.
• Develop and implement an appropriate treasury management plan in partnership with our bank.
• Corporate Matters
• Support due diligence processes and provide financial insights to potential investors during equity and debt processes.
• Own investor relations as it relates to information and audit requests.
• Handle all insurance procurement and administration.
• Manage any state registrations and government reporting that may be required.
• Revenue Operations
• Closely monitor pricing and margin policies in collaboration with the sales team.
• Partner with our legal team on customer contracts and revenue recognition.
• Interact with clients during proposal phases and regarding accounts receivables.
• Accounting Operations:
• Oversee and manage all accounting operations (AP/AR, financial reporting, revenue recognition, tax, month end close, etc).
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Own the finance tech stack and cross-tool integrations, including accounting tools, reporting tools, payment platforms, banks and HR tools.
• Experience managing an external audit
• People and Benefits:
• Own onboarding and offboarding process for employees, contractors, advisors, consultants, etc.
• Manage employee benefits coverage and administration.
• Develop employment policies and procedures to support growth
• Equity/Salary and Rewards:
• Oversee equity-related activities, including stock option plans, 409a valuations, and option exercises.
• Lead benchmarking process for compensation, bonus, and equity rewards.
• Build and manage sales commission structure as it relates to revenue.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years experience in finance for an early-stage company, as well as experience at an enterprise B2B or cybersecurity company, ideally as Director of Finance or Head of Finance
• Ownership of your outcomes, highly self-motivated, an entrepreneurial mindset, while driven to iterate and improve.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in rapidly-changing environments.
• Pragmatic mindset and a problem-solving attitude, with a hands-on approach and ability to get things done in imperfect situations.
• Experience working with a Board of Directors and venture capital firms
• Superb verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skill
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or related field
Work Hours & Location:
• Operant is a remote-first company and welcomes qualified applicants from across the US and Canada.
• This position will require you to be available during core PST business hours (9am-5pm) and to adjust schedules occasionally based on customer and business needs including business travel, client meeting/call schedules, and team off-sites.
