About The Role

Join our dynamic team as the Mortgage Underwriting Manager in our Omaha office. In this role, you’ll lead a talented team of underwriters and play a crucial part in optimizing our underwriting process to ensure top-notch productivity and quality. Your leadership will drive risk analysis for mortgage loans, and you’ll be instrumental in using data to enhance our risk approval… process.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor a team of underwriters to achieve production and quality goals, providing guidance and support to ensure success.
• Assign and manage loans daily to ensure timely underwriting decisions.
• Help prioritize rush loans, conditions, and newly submitted loans to meet customer and business needs.
• Update and maintain underwriting policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Collaborate with the technology team to improve automation and streamline the underwriting process.
• Continuously review and enhance the risk approval process while balancing risk mitigation.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams on daily operations and new initiatives.
• Develop and deliver training resources for the underwriting team.
• Provide feedback to the product team and conduct training based on audit findings.
• Review loans periodically for quality and suggest improvements to the Chief Credit Officer.
• Foster a supportive environment focused on employee development and growth, managing performance fairly and consistently.
• Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth transitions and adherence to new practices.
• Resolve post-closing issues efficiently.
• Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes.

What We’re Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with 5+ years of underwriting management experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience without a degree. Advanced degrees or CRU (Certified Residential Underwriter) designation are a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of competitive program guidelines and experience with junior liens.
• Proven track record in leading change and navigating complex scenarios.
• Strong decision-making skills with a practical approach.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to multitask with a keen eye for detail.
