About The Role
We’re seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a 6-month contract. This role is remote, but initial training will be conducted in the office. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all accounting activities.
Your Responsibilities
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
• Documentation & Improvements: Maintain detailed documentation of accounting procedures and identify areas for process improvements.
• General Ledger Oversight: Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
• Process Optimization: Identify inefficiencies in current accounting processes and develop strategies to enhance accuracy and streamline operations.
• Implementation of Improvements: Lead initiatives for process improvements, including automation and system upgrades.
• Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
• Internal Controls: Maintain and enhance internal controls to protect the company’s assets and ensure financial accuracy.
• Special Projects: Participate in or lead special accounting projects, including system implementations, process improvements, and financial analysis. Experience with data mart/sub ledger implementations is a plus.
What We’re Looking For
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Experience: At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in the insurance or financial services industry, with a strong background in process improvement.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience with process automation tools is an advantage.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of IFRS/GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and process optimization techniques.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial information.
