Overview
The General Ledger Accountant will be a member of Pediatrix’s corporate accounting department and will be focused on the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions with particular emphasis on incoming patient and insurance payments. This position will be responsible for reviewing and reconciling transactions as well as creating month-end journal entries to assist with the… month-end close process. The ideal candidate will be capable of leveraging IT tools to analyze, match and reconcile large volumes of data from multiple data sources.
Responsibilities
• Gather necessary supporting documentation to produce monthly financial statements and enter into the general ledger accounting system.
• Responsible for the preparation and posting of all journal entries, analysis and reconciliation related to specifically assigned general ledger accounts of low to medium risk areas.
• Create and maintain any spreadsheets used to calculate related journal entries or perform analysis.Post entries related to assigned General Ledger accounts.
• Perform analysis of preliminary financial statements related to assigned areas of low to medium risk.
• Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and schedules related to assigned areas of low to medium risk.
• Participate as a member of the G/L Team in the distribution of preliminary and final financial statements as necessary.
• Assist the Accounting Manager and Assistant Corporate Controller as necessary.
• Perform other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Accounting, Business, or Finance; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years general ledger accounting experience.
• Excel, Word, Windows, and Accounting Software.
• Experience with Oracle strongly preferred.
• Ability to pay close attention to details.
• Hands on cash reconciliation experience, General ledger entry, cash accounts experience.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Must be able to travel to corportate office in Sunrise, FL twice per month.
• Ideal candidate must reside within two hours of coprorate office.
