Role Overview…
As an Accountant, you will play a vital role in supporting the finance and accounting functions at our Morristown, TN facility. Your responsibilities will include:
Performing month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Analyzing and interpreting numerical data to provide valuable financial insights.
Preparing and reviewing journal entries, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
Reconciling general ledger accounts and ensuring effective controls to uphold financial statement assertions.
Addressing and solving accounting issues, using your expertise to handle various accounting scenarios.
Collaborating with team members and contributing to departmental and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Execute month-end close activities and financial analysis within established guidelines.
Prepare and process journal entries, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Conduct reconciliations of general ledger accounts and maintain effective financial controls.
Solve accounting challenges and handle a variety of concrete variables.
Apply a thorough understanding of finance principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
At least 1 year of experience in general ledger accounting.
Strong understanding and application of GAAP.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
Proficient in computer and analytical skills, including Microsoft Excel.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines both independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of internal control environments and general ledger accounting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years of accounting experience.
Experience with AS400/Foodstar, SAP software, or similar accounting software.
Awareness of SOX requirements and compliance with key controls.
Involvement in process improvement initiatives.
Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools, and familiarity with accounting software for journal entries and reconciliations, such as BlackLine.
